What is Restylane® or Juvederm®?
Dermal "fillers" such as Juvederm & Restylane are a sugar based gel called hyaluronic acid. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting results by allowing your skin to retain water and stay hydrated. Typical results last 9- 24 months depending on the filler brand. Dr Varano has over 20 years of experience using injectable fillers. Juvederm Voluma is used specifically for cheek augmentation. This can help with volume loss in the cheek and midface area for sagging and skin laxity. Results are immediate and last 2 years* individual results may vary
What is the difference between Dermal fillers (Restylane/Juvederm) and Neuromodulators (BOTOX® /Dysport®) ?
Treatment with any neuromodulators such as Botox or Dysport are used to reduce wrinkles in the brow area (forehead), frown lines (11's) and the crow's feet. Dr. Drew Varano has served the Washington DC area for over 20 years performing advanced treatments with neuromodulators. In general, fillers are typically placed in many facial areas "below the eyes to the chin area", whereas Botox is typically placed "above the eyes to the forehead". Botox also can be used to help migrane headaches , reduction in the masseter muscle for TMJ/Bruxism, and reduce underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis). In most individuals, all neuromodulators will last 31/2 to 41/2 months depending on treated area, in some individuals it may last longer. Its effects may be seen as early as two days after injection. After receiving repeated treatments the effects usually last longer--in some cases, six months and longer between repeated treatments.
Restylane® is injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds.
It is used to treat nasolabial folds, cheeks , marionettes, tear trough, chin , lip lines, lip boarders, lip augmentation and for more youthful hands.
Restylane® effects are immediate and usually lasts 9-12 months when treating nasolabial folds and about 6 months for lip injections.
After the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within a few days after injection into the skin.
As Restylane® is a totally non-animal product, there is no risk of eliciting allergic reactions and there is no risk of transmitting disease. Unlike collagen injections, you do not need to have prior skin testing.
Radiesse® (CaHA) is FDA APPROVED to correct wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, including Nasolabial Folds, marionette lines, and cheek augmentation. It stimulates your skin to produce new collagen It can be used for hand rejuvenation, and for more volume and a youthful appearance.it can be used as diluted radiesse for bio stimulation of areas of superficial “wrinkles and creepy fine skin”
Sculptra (PLLA- Poly-L lactic acid) is also used as a bio stimulatory to help with volume loss in cheeks and face. It can be used on the body as well to give volume. Results can take a few weeks to become apparantnas your body will produce newer collagen and elastin tissue and can last several years.

HOW MUCH DOES Botox/Dysport COST?
The three most common areas are 1) frown lines, 2) forehead (brow) lines, and 3 ) Crow's feet. (pictures below).

Treatments are priced "by area" or by units and range as follows: Pricing per unit also below
1 area=$285-$375
2 areas= $525-625
All 3 areas =$675-750
Prices per area are not "set in stone", some people choose to do all 3 areas for the price of 2 areas which is frequently done, but we will use the same amount of botox for 2 areas and spread it over 3 areas. You are really paying "per unit", but because many people do not know how many units are needed, it is easier to delineate by treatment areas.
Some people may choose to have a "less frozen look " or " more movement ". This can be accomplished with injecting less units and/or more dilute Botox, which you will pay less for than what is listed. Per unit cost is approximately $5.25 per unit of Dysport, $10/unit Daxxify, $13/unit Jeuveau, depending on number areas treated. Botox can also be used in other areas such as the masseter muscle, lip lines, bunny lines (bridge of nose), & underarms to limit sweating.
